As a Journeyperson 2 Auto Body Technician, you will oversee and perform a variety of auto body work, including estimating, designing, building, repairing, modifying, painting, refinishing, and adjusting all types of auto body repairs. Primary duties include:

  • Organize, direct and supervise the work of Journeyperson Auto Body Technicians carrying out a variety of assigned duties and responsibilities on schedule.
  • Supervise bench work, shop repairs, field repairs including auto body tasks such as painting, refinishing, welding, cutting, sanding, riveting, reinforcing, upholstering and glass installations. 
  • Participate in health and safety meetings and work groups and ensure that any defective equipment is reported.  
  • Ensure that equipment and supplies meet standards and expectations and are used as directed.
Qualifications 
  • A High School diploma and a completed Journeyperson Certificate as a Autobody Technician that must include Prepper, Refinisher and Repair recognized by Alberta Apprenticeship and Industry Training.   
  • At least 8 years of experience in an autobody setting performing appraisals, repair, and maintenance.
  • Training or experience in woodworking, welding, upholstering, frame and wheel alignment is preferred.
  • A valid Class 5 Driver's License (or provincial equivalent), with no more than 6 demerits and no current suspensions or charges pending.
  • Ability to obtain City of Calgary operator's permit
  • Demonstrated ability to perform work in a safe and secure manner. 
  • Success in this role requires sound judgement, excellent technical proficiency, interpersonal skills and high work standards. 
Working Conditions: This position works in a garage environment and may be exposed to vehicle fumes, noise, dust and heavy equipment. Some work must be performed in tight, awkward spaces.
